  • Lenexa Franchise Owners Win National Award

    WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 15 - EmbroidMe Lenexa franchisees Todd and Wendy Diskin of Lenexa, Kan. were honored today by the International Franchise Association (IFA) with its Franchisee of the Year Award. Franchise owner-operators representing nearly 50 franchise systems were recognized today during the IFA's Ninth Annual Franchise Appreciation Day here for their outstanding performance and the contributions they have made to enhance the growth and development of franchising.

    As the association's public affairs conference, Franchise Appreciation Day is a two-day event which began today and continues through Sept. 16. Attendees are meeting with members of Congress and Administration officials about issues important to franchising, including small-business health plans, immigration reform, business activity taxes and wages. The event and the award are supported by founding sponsor ADP Small Business Services.

    According to a recent study conducted for the IFA Educational Foundation by PricewaterhouseCoopers on the economic impact of franchising, there are more than 900,000 franchised businesses in operation across the country, which are indirectly responsible for providing 21 million jobs and generating $2.3 trillion in economic output. In Kansas, 9,991 establishments directly provide 119,739 jobs and contribute $8.2 billion to the U.S. economy.

    Navato Business Owner Wins Industry Top Honors NOVATO, CA (March 2008) - EmbroidMe in Novato, Ca., has been awarded three top honors at the recent United Franchise Group World Expo in Orlando, Fla.   • Local Store Hosts Annual Hair Drive

    EmbroidMe Encinitas is holding its 2nd Annual Hair Drive for the Locks of Love organization.

    In 2007, Owner Sandra Sapol donated her hair to the organization in honor of her friend, Michelle Tehrani, who lost her six-year battle with breast cancer the year before. Locks of Love provides custom hairpieces made entirely from donated human hair to adults and children who suffer from permanent hair loss.

    Donated hair must be at least 10 inches in length and must be bundled in a pony-tail or braid. Hair that has been dyed or permed can be used, but bleached hair cannot.

    Hair donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday during April and May at EmbroidMe Encinitas, 191 N. El Camino Real, suite 202, Encinitas. For more information, call (760) 943-8022.

  • Mark Johnson Appointed EmbroidMe's New President

    WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Mark Johnson has been appointed president of EmbroidMe (www.embroidme.com), the world's largest retail embroidery franchise. EmbroidMe is part of the United Franchise Group, a company that specializes in franchise development and services.

    Johnson joined the company in 2001 to assist with the launch of the EmbroidMe brand. In his previous position of executive vice president of EmbroidMe, he supervised sales, operations, franchise development, franchise real estate, leasing and financing, trade shows, regional vice presidents and regional managers. The franchise's founder and previous president, Ray Titus, will now serve as chief executive officer for United Franchise Group and its brands.
